Individual therapy provides a private, supportive space to better understand yourself, work through challenges, and develop new ways of responding to difficult situations.
At Rooted & Rising Psychology, Bartell works collaboratively with individuals to understand their goals and develop a therapy approach that fits their needs.
People seek individual therapy for many different reasons. Areas of support may include:
Anxiety and persistent worry
Depression and low mood
Relationship difficulties
Communication challenges
Life transitions
Identity and self-exploration
LGBTQIA+ concerns
Addictive Behavior and substance use
Emotional regulation
Personal growth
Other concerns affecting well-being or relationships
Therapy begins with understanding what brings you in and what you would like to be different.
Depending on your goals, sessions may involve exploring patterns, developing practical coping strategies, examining thoughts and emotions, improving communication, strengthening relationships, or working toward broader personal growth.
I draw from several evidence-based approaches including Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Contextual Trauma Therapy.
I integrate approaches based on the needs and goals of the people I work with rather than assuming that one method is right for everyone.
In-person individual therapy is available in downtown San Diego. Secure telehealth therapy is also available throughout California.
You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. If something in your life feels difficult, stuck, overwhelming, or worth exploring, therapy can provide a space to slow down and understand what is happening.
A brief consultation is available for people who would like to ask questions and determine whether working together may be a good fit.
